The UK Marine Renewable Energy Resources Atlas - Version 2

ABPmer has been commissioned by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to update the highly acclaimed Atlas of UK Marine Renewable Energy Resources.

The original atlas was published in September 2004 and remains as the most comprehensive description of the UK’s marine renewable energy resources for strategic planning. Overwhelming interest from the marine renewable energy sector has driven the requirement for a further resource evaluation. The Atlas 2 project will build on the success of the original work and draw on a longer archive of wind and wave data now available to improve the reliability of synoptic mapping. In addition, enhancements to the tidal resource will be provided by considering additional features of the flow regime. An initial activity of the Atlas 2 project includes an end-user survey of industry users to finalise the project specification.
